1907

First edition of the Electrical News, forerunner of The Denki Shimbun (8-page, A4-size, periodical published every 10 days).

1923 During the Great Kanto Earthquake, fire destroys the printing works, temporarily halting operations. Newspaper relaunched with rotary presses replacing planographic printing.
1927 Number of editions increased to six per month
1940 All influential electricity-related newspapers intrgrated to form The Denki Shimbun
1941 The Pacific War begins
1942 Following the Newspaper Integration Decree, the Japan Electric Association (JEA) takes over publication of The Denki Shimbun.
1944 Paper shortage reduces publication to three times per week
1945 The Pacific War ends
1951 Electricity industry restructured and nine regional electric power companies created.
1952 The Denki Shimbun published every other day
1956 Events held in advance of 50th anniversary. System established dispatching reporters to branch offices.
1957 The Denki Shimbun transitions to a daily publication.
1966 Contract with Jiji Press. Special correspondents dispatched overseas
1975 Move to new company offices (present Yurakucho Denki Bldg)
1997 The Denki Shimbun website launched.
1998 Computer-based content management system instituted.
1999 Image data management system constructed.
2001 Exhibitions of photographs heralding 50 years of electric power held at 10 locations around Japan attract a total of 70,000 visitors.
2003 Newspaper printing operation opened in Osaka.
2005 New image data management system (total digitalization of photo operations)established and image data filing system upgraded.
2006 100th anniversary of first edition of The Denki Shimbun commemorated with an international symposium in Tokyo and other events. Energy education awards inaugurated and awards ceremony held. Title redesigned and editorial content revamped for 100th anniversary. Content management system updated.
2017 The Denki Shimbun Digital rolled out.
